2) Packing phase
After receiving the deliveries for the suppliers, we organised the packing of the items on Thursday, 17th September. 80 enthusiastic student Interactors set up booths and packing stations to ensure a smooth, safe and socially-distanced packing experience. We decided to use an assembly line approach to ensure the efficient packing of the items. In collaboration with the ACS Int. Art Club, the students managed to write each migrant worker a personalised encouragement card.
3) Pick-up and receiving phase
With the help of Wesley Methodist Church, we successfully delivered over 400 care packages to Sims Avenue Site, Tuas View Dormitory and Pandan Dormitory. The packages were received well by the migrant workers who wore a bright smiles on their face.
Seeing their cheerful smiles and thank you messages was honestly one of the most heartwarming experiences. It let us know that all our efforts over the past 3 months in planning and executing this project has been time well-spent. This also motivates us as an interact club to work harder to reach out to more migrant workers with better quality care packages in #MigrantOutreach2021!
Rotary Club Awards
We were honoured to be able to receive 3 awards from the prestigious Rotary Club recognition for our work in 2020.
MigrantOutreach picked up 3 top honours for the Rotary Club District Awards 2020/2021:
- Overall Best Project in District (Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei)
- Best Project in Singapore (Junior College)
- Distinction Award for "A Decade of Community Outreach"
To celebrate our triple win, our EXCO were invited to meet with Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Kiat for the annual rotary installation on June 19th, via zoom.
Our project members are truly grateful and honoured to be able to receive these 3 awards and is truly a reflection of every group member's hard-work and commitment to create a positive change towards an inclusive community. |
